geekingermany: schuface: It was the eighth month in the old Roman calendar, then January and February were added at the beginning of the sequence to create the Gregorian calendar, and thus pushed all the other months back a couple spaces. October kept its original name, while two other months were renamed “July” and “August” after Julius and Augustus Caesar, respectively. I can retain that random-ass tidbit of information from a 4th grade field trip, but it always takes me forever to remember long division each time I have to do it. For Lindsay! Hooray! I felt so clever when I noticed this.  Good old questioning raptor.
